I've seen dozens of "how to's" on cleaning a pan with cooked on food and I always remember growing up I learned when your stainless pan has burned on food from overcooking, first off, next time shut down the flame and don't burn your food and second, if you do get a burned on mess, heat the pan up smoking hot and carefully pour some cold water in then use a flat spatula and scrape the bottom of the pan. The steam releases all the food then suspends it in the water so the food doesn't burn back on. Or, if it's just a little food stuck, cook up some kind of tomato sauce. Your stainless pan will come out looking like new!
