Tweezers

Do you remember how easy it was to manipulate small components when you were a child? Now, tweezers are used ever more frequently, as fingers become inflexible and unadroit. In the last month, 3 of my best 4 tweezers have gone missing. New tweezers are shockingly expensive and you cannot try them before you get them home, and what I need is non-magnetic tweezers.
These are made from 1mm thick veneer, stripped from plywood, left out in the rain until delaminated. These strips are generally used as spills to light the gas forge.
The tweezers shown are 7 - 8” long., simply glued together, with a wedge to separate the two…. What are they called? Jaws? Prongs?

Not a very close fit.
What I was hoping to use was some strips of yew or laburnum. Here’s one pair, just to indicate what was in mind. These operate by squeezing them apart, instead of pinching them together. The copper binding could be a lot better, maybe there is a technique.

Why is it slightly charred? That’s my style.

Putting a wooden stick in your tea is probably a sacrilege in the UK. Instead of stirrers perhaps disposable chop sticks supplied with Asian take out food ?
