    What type of media? I assume you still need to sane before refinishing?

    Looks like possibly dry ice, given the lack of residual left behind.

    In the US, it is known as yellow pine and considered a hardwood. Very commonly used as tongue and groove flooring in older homes because of the wear resistance and strength. Material and installation costs ended that trend a while ago. It's mainly now chopped up and chemically treated for use as decking. Not sure what the equivalent is/was in the UK and other areas.
