It is not a good idea to bolt and/or weld an anvil to a ridged platform. It should be mounted on a large block of wood allowing for some movement. Another way is to use a cut down 55 gallon drum filled with sand. These methods allow the strikes to dissipate instead of being shock waves that reverberate in the anvil leading to anvil failures.
