DESCRIPTION:
Homemade inkjet 3D printer constructed from a surplus HP540 inkjet printer and wood.

This printer was used for testing materials. Automating it was the initial intent but I was never thrilled with the strength of the parts so I stopped development. The vertical axis could also be automated to produce thicker objects. (Others worked on a project called Plan-B that uses a similar process http://ytec3d.com/plan-b/)

This is really cool. Can you index the bed to create a larger part, say 2" x 3" x .25"? Could you somehow mount the printer head to the scanner mechanism and use plotter software to drive it!
