Homemade Lathe Level

DESCRIPTION:
Homemade pendulum-type level intended to facilitate the process of leveling lathes. Fabricated from bar stock and measures 1.5m tall. Vernier scale is graduated in 0.05mm increments.

togl is really on to something here. I don't think a pendulum would occur to me; I like it! What impresses me greatest, is the vernier. Calibration or accuracy of any level or such device is easily conducted. Observe a reading, then rotating 180 . If both are identical, accuracy is good. Calibration occurs when the index and reading align too. It may be hard to visualize, but they are different. Anyway, despite having machinists levels, this interests me in what a level can't do. And that is being able to read at distance. Leveling is labor intensive; most of it walking back and forth between adjustments to observe a bubble. Starting out, usually so far off, you can't interpret how far off cause the bubble is compressed to one side. I'm going to start sketching immediately.
