Homemade Rotating Chuck

Now if you made a 60 degree lathe centre with a short stub shaft to be held in this rotating chuck you would have a rotating centre. Or make a stub axle with a flat round disc to press against the job for wood turning purposes. Ideally the bearings should be thrust bearings, but what you have should be alright for light duty work. I see a problem with tapping, in that the tap is free to turn but the chuck is not free to slide horizontally and advance the tap into the work. If you had made this new chuck shaft a sliding fit in a tube, or preferably in a Morse arbor, then for tapping purposes there would have been no need for the bearings. Either way you have done a great job here. Keep up the good work.
